Booking your visit to Amboise

Bookings
The thing to know before anything else: there is no online entrance ticket for the Château Royal d’Amboise on GetYourGuide. You buy at the château’s own desk when you arrive, and there is rarely a queue worth planning around. What is bookable is the guiding — a small-group or private guide who meets you outside — and the day trips from Paris or Tours that include entry to Amboise along with Chenonceau and Chambord. And before you pay anyone: the château runs its own guided visits, included in the ticket, daily. See the included visits.

Six bookings are compared on this site. They are not variations on one product: they answer three different situations — you are in Paris without a car, you are already in Amboise, or you are making a Loire day out of it.

How to choose in thirty seconds

If you are based in Paris with no car and want the Loire in one day, take the small-group day trip. It includes entry to Amboise, Chenonceau and Chambord, puts a guide at each one, and takes twelve hours door to door. It is the only format that removes the ticket desk entirely.

If you are already in Amboise and want the story rather than the cartels, take the guided visit of the château — ninety minutes, ten people maximum, French or English. Read the one catch first: the château entrance is not included and must be bought at the desk beforehand.

If you would rather have one purchase that covers everything, or you are with family and want the pace set to you, the private tour with entry is the only Amboise product that bundles the château ticket.

And to make a day of it: the Clos Lucé guided visit five hundred metres away, the Chenonceau and Chambord day from Tours or Amboise, or the e-bike day if you would rather ride between châteaux than sit in a minibus.

Local tip

Whatever you book, ask at the ticket desk what time the next included guided visit leaves before you commit your hour. It is free, it runs daily, and it is genuinely good — you may find you want to build the visit around it instead. How they work.

Book the day trip

Live availability for the flagship — the small-group Loire day from Paris with entry to all three châteaux — is below. If you are already in the Loire, the shorter version from Tours or Amboise is on its own page.

Frequently asked questions

Can you buy Château d’Amboise tickets online?

Not through GetYourGuide — there is no online entrance ticket listed for Amboise. You buy at the château’s own desk on arrival, or take a format that includes entry: see the day trip or the private tour.

Is a guided tour included in the entrance ticket?

Yes — the château runs its own guided visits daily, about an hour, with no supplement and no booking. Details on this page.

Do the GetYourGuide guided visits include entry?

The small-group guided visit does not; you buy the château ticket at the desk first. The private tour does include it.

Which format for a first visit?

From Paris, the day trip. Already in Amboise, buy at the gate and use the included guided visit. The three profiles are on the comparison page.
