What the included visit covers
The royal lodging and its rooms, the passage from Gothic to Renaissance that the building itself records, the kings who lived here, and the Saint-Hubert chapel with Leonardo da Vinci’s tomb. What it does not do is stand on the terrace for fifteen minutes looking at the Loire, which is the thing I most want you to do — so take the guide first and the view afterwards.

Three. The visits run to the château’s schedule, not yours, which matters if you are on a train. They are principally in French; if you need English on demand, that is precisely what the booked guides are for. And the group is whatever size turns up, which in late July is not ten people.
